Good Faith Estimate
Your right
Your right to a good faith estimate
You have the right to receive an estimate of what your care will cost before you receive it. This right applies to patients who do not have insurance and to patients who have insurance but are not using it for a visit. Because we are not yet in network with any plan, it currently applies to every patient we see.
Estimates
What we provide
When you schedule an appointment, we will provide a written good faith estimate of the expected charges. You may also request an estimate at any time, whether or not you have scheduled, and we will provide it in writing. The estimate lists the items and services we expect to provide and the expected charge for each.
Estimates are provided on the federal timeline:
- If you schedule at least 3 business days before the appointment, within 1 business day of scheduling.
- If you schedule at least 10 business days before the appointment, within 3 business days of scheduling.
- If you request an estimate without scheduling, within 3 business days of the request.
If what we expect to provide changes before your appointment, we will give you an updated estimate at least 1 business day before the visit.
An estimate is not a bill and does not obligate you to receive care here. Keep your copy — you may need it if your bill is higher than the estimate.
Disputes
If your bill is higher than your estimate
If your final bill is $400 or more above the total on your good faith estimate, you may dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. A dispute must be started within 120 calendar days of the date on the bill. While a dispute is pending, we will not send the disputed amount to collections and no late fees will accrue on it.
You do not have to start there. If your bill looks wrong, tell us first — call 972-332-5922, email [email protected], or send a message through the patient portal. We will acknowledge your question in writing within 5 business days and answer it in writing within 30 days, and collection activity on the disputed amount stops in the meantime. That process is described in full on the Insurance and Fees page.
Using either process will not affect your care here.
