Psychiatric Services

Medication Management. We provide psychiatric evaluation, prescribing, and ongoing monitoring for the conditions we treat. Medications are selected with attention to your history, your medical conditions, and the other medications you take, and we reassess the regimen at regular intervals. Prescriptions are continued while you are being seen, and we will discuss how often you should be seen based on your treatment plan. Learn more on the Medication Management page.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). TMS is an FDA-cleared treatment for depression that has not improved with antidepressant medication. It uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate the areas of the brain involved in mood regulation, and there is no surgery, no anesthesia, and no sedation. Sessions take place in our office and you may return to your normal activities afterward. Learn more on the TMS page.

Spravato (esketamine). Spravato is an FDA-approved nasal spray for treatment-resistant depression, taken together with an oral antidepressant. We are a certified treatment center, and every dose is self-administered in our office and followed by at least two hours of monitoring. Learn more on the Spravato page.

Treatment-Resistant Depression. When depression has not responded to previous treatment, the first step is a structured review of what has been tried, at what dose, and for how long, along with a fresh look at the diagnosis. From there, options are sequenced thoughtfully, and medication optimization, therapy, TMS, and Spravato are all available within the practice. Learn more on the Treatment-Resistant Depression page.

Therapy. Therapy at Lakeridge Psychiatry is provided within our 50-minute medication-plus-therapy follow-up appointments, which allow time for both the medication discussion and the therapeutic work. We use evidence-based approaches selected for the condition being treated. When weekly standalone therapy is the better fit, we will refer you to a therapist and coordinate care with them.

Deprescribing. Deprescribing is the careful reduction or discontinuation of medications that are no longer necessary or no longer helpful. We review the full medication list, consider the reason each medication was started, and make one change at a time at a pace that is set individually. Medications that are working are continued.

ADHD Evaluation and Treatment. Diagnosing ADHD in adults is careful work, and it includes a developmental and symptom history, standardized rating scales, collateral information when it is helpful, and evaluation of the other conditions that can produce similar symptoms. Treatment may include stimulant and non-stimulant medication, along with skills work and therapy within visits.

Addiction Treatment. We treat alcohol, opioid, stimulant, cannabis, and nicotine use disorders, and we treat the psychiatric conditions that frequently accompany them. Medication options include buprenorphine, naltrexone, and acamprosate, and naloxone is co-prescribed to every patient receiving buprenorphine.

Geriatric Psychiatry. We provide psychiatric care for older adults, including depression and anxiety in later life, behavioral symptoms associated with memory disorders, and symptoms that appear for the first time later in life. Mood and cognition are evaluated together, and prescribing takes account of dosing, drug interactions, and the other physicians involved in your care.

Psychiatric Care for Patients with Medical Illness. Depression and anxiety occur commonly alongside cancer, heart disease, neurological disease, chronic pain, and other chronic illness. We treat these symptoms with attention to the medical condition, the medications used to treat it, and the physicians who are managing it.

Telehealth. Follow-up appointments may be conducted by video through the patient portal. Video visits are the same length, carry the same fee, and are held to the same standards as visits in the office. Initial evaluations are conducted in person. Full details are on the Clinic Policies page.
